This vibrant marker illustration was inspired by a quiet afternoon along the Cuale River in Puerto Vallarta. Colourful riverside homes, lush greenery, and shimmering water come together to capture the warmth and calm of that tucked-away spot along the riverbank.
I created this piece during a four-and-a-half-month backpacking trip through Mexico in 2024, using a small travel set of markers I carried everywhere with me. I came across this row of bright little homes almost by accident while wading through the river, and the scene felt too good not to draw. The colours, the stillness, and the simplicity of the moment made it one of those pieces that came together naturally.
This artwork comes from an earlier chapter of my practice, when travel, colour, and place heavily influenced what I created. As I move further into pet portrait commissions, prints like this remain as snapshots of moments that shaped my artistic voice along the way.
